Baby Yourself
Give your baby her first lesson in sharing by dipping into some of her personal care products. Items formulated to nurture her delicate skin are often great for you to put on, too. Not only do they improve your appearance and leave you feeling refreshed, they can also save you money because you don’t need to stock up on your own separate stuff. Here are the products to share with your baby and the reasons why they’re good for you.
Moisturizer: If you want skin as soft as a baby’s bottom, start using your little one’s lotion. “I’m not a mom, but I love using it,” says Leslie Ferranti, an aesthetician and owner of Darling Spa in Toronto. “Baby moisturizer is gentle and very mild, so it doesn’t irritate my skin like other products can with added fragrance and colour.” Plus, it absorbs quickly and isn’t greasy. (If you have dry skin that needs serious hydration, use a richer cream.) Try Aveeno Baby Lavender and Vanilla Calming Comfort Lotion.
Wipes: Formulated with antibacterial agents and moisturizing ingredients, such as vitamin E, wipes (designed for little bums) help you stay clean and fresh when you’re on the go. Stash them in your purse or bag for on the spot hand sanitizing or to wipe away sweat under your arms after a workout. Try Huggies CleanTeam Flushable Moist Wipes.
Soap: Washing your body daily with regular soap can dry out your skin. Fortunately, the same isn’t true of bars made for babies. “It’s fine for moms because it’s gentle, hypoallergenic and great for delicate skin,” Ferranti says. Try Dove Baby Sensitive Skin.
Shampoo: Using your tot’s shampoo can save you time in the shower, as it rinses out quickly and easily, plus it gives you a beauty boost. “It will leave a mom’s hair looking shiny, feeling healthy and smelling fresh,” says Ferranti. If you don’t have time to follow up with conditioner, simply choose a nourishing baby shampoo for you and your infant to share. Try Rexall Conditioning Formula Baby Shampoo Tearless.
