Diabetes is a chronic condition which requires frequent monitoring of blood glucose. In addition to the regular home blood glucose monitoring which measures your blood sugar levels right at that moment in time, the A1C test is an important testing tool for people living with diabetes or for those who are pre-diabetic. It is a measurement of your average blood glucose control over the last 2 to 3 months. Approximately, 50% of the A1C value comes from the last 30 days alone.1
It is recommended you have your A1C tested every 3 months to ensure you are on track to managing your diabetes. As any value not within your target range, may be a sign of uncontrolled diabetes which may result in severe complications.1
