Frequently Asked Questions

  • Upon arrival at our pharmacist-led walk-in clinic, please check in with our receptionist.

Once you have checked in, our receptionist will provide you with an intake form to collect necessary details, such as personal information, health coverage, and the reason for your visit. This information helps us create your profile. While you wait, you are welcome to shop in-store or utilize our HealthAssist Kiosk to measure vital signs such as blood pressure, oxygen levels, and body temperature.

When it's your turn, the clinical pharmacist practitioner will bring you to one of our private exam rooms and proceed with your visit. Depending on your healthcare needs, this may involve obtaining relevant medical history, conducting a thorough examination, performing diagnostic tests, or administering vaccinations.

At the end of your visit, the pharmacist will review your results and provide instructions and recommendations. In certain cases, we may prescribe a prescription. If so, we can fill your prescription on location or issue it to you. Additionally, our dispensing pharmacist will be available to provide further clarification on your medication.

With your permission, the clinical pharmacist can send a copy of your visit summary to your primary care provider for their records and continuity of care.

  • Most routine services will be covered by the provincial healthcare system unless otherwise stated. If you are not covered by the provincial health system, you may still receive care at our pharmacy clinic, however, a charge may be applicable for some services.

  • Currently, our pharmacist-led walk-in clinic primarily serves patients within Alberta. We are unable to provide virtual care services to patients outside of Alberta due to regulatory limitations.

  • Our clinical pharmacists can:

    • Conduct assessments, administer treatments, and issue prescriptions for common illnesses such as pink eye, cold sores, mild acne, headaches, and more.
    • Administer vaccinations and injections for common illnesses such as influenza, pneumonia, pertussis, and hepatitis, among others.
    • Provide an extensive range of wellness services, including a weight loss program, a smoking cessation program, and travel health services.
    • Conduct routine laboratory tests with immediate results and offer education for individuals managing diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, as well as order lab tests for further investigation.

If your specific condition falls outside the scope of our pharmacist's expertise, we will arrange a referral to one of our virtual physicians who can provide specialized care and guidance at the time of your visit.

  • Your booking time does not include the time it takes to have your prescription ready. However, we can fill prescriptions at this clinical pharmacy location. You are welcome to shop around while you wait for your prescription. You can also opt-in to receive a mobile text notification when your prescription is ready for pick-up.

  • Please bring a complete list of the medications you are currently taking (prescription and non-prescription medication), your provincial health card, and health insurance information (if applicable).

  • Your personal health information will be accessible to our healthcare team through an electronic health record system. We take measures to ensure the privacy and security of your information. If you have any concerns or questions about the collection and accessibility of your health information, our team of clinical pharmacist practitioners will provide you with the necessary guidance. You have the right to request a copy of your Netcare record, and you can also inquire about limiting access to your health information in Netcare. Please feel free to reach out to us for more information or assistance with your Netcare record.

Disclaimer:

In Alberta, Pharmacists with the APA (Additional Prescribing Authorization) designation can write prescriptions based on assessment, for most medications except narcotic, controlled and targeted medications. Before the Pharmacist and patient agree that a prescription is an appropriate option, the patient must undergo an assessment. When conducting the assessment, the Pharmacist will require patient information including but not limited to patient medical history, medication history, allergies, and other information relevant to the patient and situation.
