Today, Paul Dale, Rexall Foundation Board Member and Executive Vice President of Operations at Rexall, presented Susan Crowley, President and CEO of Children’s Health Foundation, with a donation of $40,000. The funds will be used to purchase four Smart intravenous pumps for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), ensuring that newborns have the specialized equipment needed to support their growth and development in the critical first weeks of life.

Although the NICU at Children’s Hospital, London Health Science Centre currently has standard functioning intravenous (IV) pumps, in order to accommodate advanced safety and enhanced care the unit will be replacing all IV pumps with Smart IV pumps. The technology in Smart IV pumps can precisely infuse medicine in dosages measured to two decimal points, allowing the pumps to provide life-saving drugs and nourishment more accurately. Each year over 700 newborns are treated in the NICU and they need this specialized equipment in order to receive the life-saving medication and treatment they require for their complex medical needs and illnesses.

Since 2003, the Rexall Foundation has been helping build strong and vibrant communities by giving back to the communities where stores are located. The Foundation has made donations to numerous charities and programs in Canada, and is especially proud of the contributions that have been made to help some of Canada’s most courageous children. Funds are carefully managed by the Rexall Foundation Board of Directors and directed to reputable and worthy causes throughout the country.
