TORONTO - September 8, 2017: 2017 marks the 160th anniversary of Providence Healthcare, a milestone achievement that celebrates a rich history of delivering compassion, hope and healing to all who come through our doors. With a long standing track record as a leader in the sensitive delivery of care for older adults (76 years is the average age of our patients), we are adopting a new annual tradition in honour of the patients we serve: Providence Celebrates Grandparents Day, Presented by Rexall!
“Providence Healthcare Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership with Rexall™, an organization we feel is deeply aligned with our Mission to care for this most treasured demographic. The collective goal: raise dollars to create greater awareness about the importance of a grandparent in sharing their legacies and passing the torch of knowledge and wisdom to those who surround them. Rexall is generously matching every dollar fundraised (up to $25,000) each year for the next four years,” said Jennifer Stewart, President and CEO, Providence Healthcare Foundation.
“Rexall’s commitment to helping Canadian families and communities be healthier has never been stronger. We all have special memories and share a fondness for grandparents, so we are very pleased to be able to partner with Providence and help celebrate grandparents everywhere,” said Brian McLaughlin, Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Rexall.
Providence Healthcare Foundation will be hosting a special (free admission) Open House celebration from 2–4 p.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017, to commemorate Grandparents Day. Taking place at Providence, this day will offer family activities with an opportunity to meet some NHL legends and Thomas Craig (Inspector Brackenreid, Murdoch Mysteries), while sharing refreshments in a community that simply loves grandparents.
