Rexall, Canada’s second largest drugstore chain has received approval from the Competition Bureau of Canada to purchase two Shoppers Drug Mart stores; one in Sechelt, British Columbia and the other in Devon, Alberta. These transactions result from the March 2014 Consent Agreement between Loblaw and the Bureau relating to Loblaw’s acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart. 

“Today is a very exciting day for our entire organization as we begin to prepare to welcome two new stores to the Rexall family and become a member of these communities,” said Warren Jeffery, Chief Operating Officer of Rexall.  “We are committed to providing a level of service that customers and patients of these stores have come to expect and deserve.  In the weeks and months ahead, we will be working hard to ensure the transition is as smooth and seamless as possible for our new customers, patients, employees and the community.” 

Customers and patients in Sechelt and Devon, will have access to all of the same benefits and advantages of current Rexall customers.  For example, customers will now be able to enjoy Rexall’s private brand products including Be. better. The Be. better line of products is made up of over 270 items, carefully selected and designed to help Canadians live, feel and be better. The extensive line includes healthier snack options, environmentally-friendly cleaning products, gluten-free vitamins and vegetarian probiotics. 

In addition, Rexall is committed to providing all of its patients with the most complete, personalized health experience.  Rexall pharmacists are leading the industry in the delivery of patient-focused services, including medication reviews, initiating prescriptions and providing injections and immunizations such as the flu shot.  Patients will have access to tools like MyRexall, which gives patients the opportunity to better manage their own health care by giving them access to their medication records online. 

 Patients will also be able to access their medication record in the palm of their hand with the new Rexall Mobile App.  When a patient signs up for a MyRexall account, they will be able see and manage their own medication records on their mobile device and Rexall is the only national retail pharmacy chain that offers patients this service. Another unique feature is the capability of the Rexall Mobile App to provide a locator for physicians’ offices that are attached to a pharmacy.
