Beauty Solutions For Busy Moms

You’re an on-the-go woman. Between caring for your kids, managing the household and going to work, you barely have 15 minutes to yourself everyday. As such, you might have let your personal care and pampering fall by the wayside. But a time-crunch doesn’t require you to sacrifice the things that help make you feel and look beautiful. All it takes is 10 minutes a day to nourish your skin and apply stunning makeup. Here’s how to beautify when you’re ultra busy.

5-minute skincare
Follow these quick steps to keep your skin healthy and radiant.

At night, pamper your face while you sleep. Cleanse, then apply a rich cream mask to wear overnight. Try Marcelle Moisture Cream. “Using a nourishing mask is one of the most beneficial treatments you can do at home, as skin is less likely to break out and less likely to show signs of aging when it’s hydrated,” Ma says.

Body: Prior to bathing, brush your dry body with a dry loofah, which provides excellent exfoliation and improves circulation, says Ma. Next, quickly smooth body oil, which is moisturizing, over your skin just before jumping into the shower. “The warm water pushes the oil into your skin (for great moisturizing) and washes away the excess; so, you don’t have to wait for the oil to absorb the way you would if you applied it after showering,” she says. Try Neutrogena Rain Gel.

5-minute makeup
A little bit of makeup goes a long way in keeping you polished and pretty when you’re rushing about. Shave time off your morning routine by stashing only the cosmetics you need in your makeup bag, so you don’t have to rummage through piles of unused products. For the most beautiful results, always cleanse and moisturize your face before putting on makeup.  Then, follow these tips to get a fresh, glowing look.

1. Dot a bit of concealer or foundation on blemishes, undereye circles or other imperfections, then blend it in, advises Roxanne De Nobrega, a Toronto-based makeup artist. Try Physicians Formula Gentle Cover Concealer Stick.

2. Dust powder all over your face, including your eyelids and brow bones, using a large brush. (Remember to shake off excess product before applying it.) This gives you a clean, airbrushed finish, says De Nobrega. Either loose or compact powders work, though the latter may be more practical for busy moms. “A compact is perfect, because you can carry it with you for little touch ups when you’re on the go,” she says.  Try Physicians Formula Organic Wear Pressed Powder.

3. With an eyeshadow brush, sweep a neutral shade of shadow, such as taupe, beige or dove grey, over your eyelids, says De Nobrega. Choose a product that comes in a palette with two or three other shades, so you can easily add smoky drama to your eyes for the evening. (Sweep the darker shade like eyeliner along your lash line and the lighter shade on your brow bone.) Try L’Oreal Paris Wear Infinité Made for Me Naturals Eyeshadow Quads.

6. Complete your look with lip colour. Go with a product that offers pigment that lasts all day and that comes with clear gloss or balm, so you don’t have to fuss with reapplying lipstick and lip liner.  Try Maybelline New York Superstay Lipcolour. Put on a thin coat of pigment in the morning, then use the gloss whenever you feel dry during the day. Also, choose a colour that’s a shade or two darker than your lips, such as a medium or deep pink. “It accentuates freshness, and won’t make you look overpowered with makeup - you’ll look like you just woke up looking gorgeous,” says De Nobrega.
